It’s time again for me to send out the info for testing gear through BackpackGearTest.org. They’re always looking for new testers, and the new round of cool goodies is about to hit the streets! Right now I’m involved with several tests including: Montrail boots, Luna Sport food items, a really cool microfiber accessory (Mental Head Case), a Cloudveil pullover, and am monitoring a test for a Black Diamond headlamp. Stuff I’ve tested or monitored in the past has been: sleeping pads, backpacks, a stove, a jacket, an ice cream maker, a sleeping bag, and gloves. So many other things have been tested I don’t have room for it all.
But it’s not just about getting gear– it’s about testing equipment in a real world situation to give feedback to the manufacturers to improve their product–something that’s vitally important for new companies. It’s to let other backcountry visitors know how things work so they don’t waste their time on trial and error before they hit the trail. It might sound like work–and it is– but it’s also a lot of fun.
If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, check out BackpackGearTest.org and become a tester!
