Much of the litter found in waterways isn’t just unsightly, it can be dangerous. Monofilament line (fishing line) is a hazard to boat props because it can become tangled around moving parts and damage the motor. More importantly–to anglers and other nature lovers–monofilament can be dangerous or even deadly to marine wildlife. The Boat US Foundation has a program to help keep waterways clean and safe through monofilament recycling.
These bins are constructed of materials that are easy to obtain, and could be a great community involvement project for Scouts, 4-H, schools, families, park friends, and many others.
